Here’s a little bit of information about all of the astrological terms and concepts you will see in this blog.

Sun Sign- The Sun is the planet of Vitality and Individuality. Most important influence in your horoscope, and in many ways, determines how others see you. The Sun governs your individuality, your distinctive style, and your drive to fulfill your goals in life. It delineates your general character.

Decanate of Sun Sign- Each astrological sign is divided into three sections of 10 days each. The decanate does not change the basic characteristics of your Sun sign, but it does refine and individualize the sign’s general characteristics in your personality.

Moon Sign- The Moon is the planet of Emotions and Instincts. The Moon governs your unconscious. Therefore, your Moon greatly influences your natural, impulsive reactionsand governs the way you interact in relationships. Whereas your Sun represents your personality to others, your Moon is what you see.

Rising Sign or Ascendant- This is the sign that was rising on the Eastern horizon at the time of your birth.  It characterizes the way you deal with others and your distinctive style of interactions. This influences your outward personality to the world—your image.

Elements- Astrological signs fall into four groups called elements:

Fire- Aries, Leo, Sagittarius. Energetic, passionate, outgoing, self-expressive

Earth- Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn. Practical, stable, patient, strong-willed.

Air-Gemini, Libra, Aquarius. Communicative, intelligent, rational, creative.

Water- Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces. Emotional, intuitive, imaginative, empathetic.    

Qualities- Astrological signs fall in to three groups called qualities:

Cardinal: Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn. Open to change, takes initiative. 

Fixed: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. Resistant to change, not easily swayed.

Mutable: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces. Changeable, adaptable.

Mercury: The Planet of the Mind.

Venus: The Planet of Love and Pleasure.

Mars: The Planet of Energy and Assertiveness.

Jupiter: The Planet of Luck and Expansion.

Saturn: The Planet of Discipline and Limitation

Uranus: The Planet of Change and Originality

Neptune: The Planet of Spirituality and Illusion
